For everyone who is flying out of Birmingham Airport with the kids in tow, here is a guide to good family hotels near Birmingham Airport. Many of them offer free accommodation or food to children, which will help you keep the cost of the holiday down.
Novotel Birmingham Airport
Children under 16 can stay for free in their parents or grandparents room at this 3 star hotel. They also get their breakfast for free. The restaurant has a childrens menu and there are play areas for kids of all ages. For entertainment in the guest rooms there is satellite TV and pay per view movies. Theres also complimentary WiFi access. The hotel is right opposite Terminal 1 at Birmingham Airport. Guests can use the NCP car parks on-site at the airport.
Crowne Plaza Birmingham NEC
The restaurant at this 4 star hotel has a childrens menu and kids eat for free. Families can book interconnecting rooms and cots can be put in on request. They all have cable TVs showing pay movies and video games, so that should keep the older kids busy. The hotel is 5 minutes drive from the airport. Long term parking packages are available and theres a shuttle bus to the terminal.
Holiday Inn Birmingham Airport
Kids also eat for free in the restaurant at the Holiday Inn. The guest rooms all have cable TV, on demand movies and Playstations, so the kids should be able to find something that will stop them getting bored. This is a 3 star hotel about a mile and a half from the airport. Theres a shuttle bus to take you there between 5 and 10 am and 4 and 10 pm. This costs 2 per person however, so for families it would be cheaper to take a taxi at 5. Airport parking packages are on offer.
Hilton Birmingham Metropole
Children under 5 sharing with 2 adults can stay at the Hilton for free. They also eat for free. Children between 5 and 15 get free accommodation in their parents room. The family rooms are 23 metres square with a separate seating area. Theres a queen size bed and rollaway beds for up to 2 kids. If they are under 15 and stay in their own room, they get 50% off the normal room rate. The restaurants at the Hilton are family friendly, with childrens menu and highchairs available. The kids also might like to have a splash in the swimming pool and Jacuzzi. This is a 4 star hotel, about 10 minutes drive from the airport. Long term parking packages are available.
Express by Holiday Inn Birmingham NEC
Children under 18 can stay for free in their parents room at this 3 star hotel. Double rooms have a double bed and a sofa bed that sleeps up to 2 adult and 2 children. They also have cable TV and WiFi internet access, although you have to pay to use the latter. The hotel is 5 or 10 minutes drive from the airport. A free shuttle bus operates between 7.30 and 10.30 am and 4 and 8 pm. The on-site car park costs 7 for 24 hours.
