An increasing number of people are opting natural healing therapy to treat a variety of conditions. The traditional Chinese therapeutic technique called Acupuncture is implemented to promote health and alleviate chronic pain and suffering. For over 5,000 years the medical procedure has been administered with minimum side effects and improved health functions.

The natural healing treatment is administered by trained and licensed Acupuncturists. These specialized practitioners must meet strict criteria, such as completing four years of training at an accredited college of Oriental Medicine. The practitioner must also obtain an authentic license from the States Medical Board. The license must be visually displayed in the practitioners office at all times.

The Chinese concept for their natural healing treatment denotes the physiological functioning of the body. More so, the medical art conceptualizes that the body has an energy force flowing throughout it. The vital energy flows and distributes forces within pathways called channels and meridians. The theory suggests that positive and negative forces, referred to as yang and yin are essential to the bodys well- being. If the yang and yin become unbalanced, then a calamity or illness may occur. Acupuncturists use techniques to reestablish the balance amongst the energy forces that consists of essential life activities; spiritual, emotional, mental, and physical activities.

The basis of natural treatment is to insert fine- slender needles under the skin surface (where the meridians and channels meet at the surface of the skin). The acupoints are pre- determined by the illness and can be used in conjunction with other natural healing techniques. Modern forms of stimulation that are incorporated into the procedure include herbs, electricity, magnets, and lasers. This Oriental medicine uses the techniques to adjust the vital energy to help the body heal itself.

Acupuncture restores the balance amongst the yang and yin by penetrating specific locations that are easily accessible by needling, electrical stimulation, Moxibustion, and Acupressure. Needling is an intense procedure and must be precisely administered according to regulations and guidelines mandated by medical biohazard. The needles are all disposable and may vary in width or shaft, shape of head, and length. Following the insertion of the needles, the Acupuncturist uses specific methods to reach maximum sensation according to the ailment. The practitioner may use Raising and Thrusting, Plucking, Rotation, and vibrating techniques called Scraping or Trembling.

Procedures that are used in conjunction with the natural treatment for enhanced stimulation may be implemented, again, according to the condition. Electro- Acupuncture sends small electrical impulses through the inserted instruments. Lasers and sound waves are also used to obtain the same effect. The technique is generally used for pain relief or prevention. It has been successful in treating obesity as well as alcoholism and drug addiction.

Other techniques that are incorporated during the natural procedure are Moxibustion and Acupressure. Moxibustion is not uncommon in that it is considered an extremely complimentary form of treatment. This technique requires the Acupuncturist to apply heat to the acupoint to treat the disease. Moxibustion is used to treat bronchitis, arthritic disorders, and certain types of paralysis. Acupressure stimulates acupoints by the use of fingers or with a hard ball shaped head instrument. This is often used as an alternative to needles. Diseases of the internal organs are generally treated by this technique.

Acupuncture is used to treat a variety of illnesses and conditions. Although the natural treatment may render minor side effects, such as nausea or disorientation, it is extremely popular. The Oriental medicine theory adheres to the concept of the healing system. It implies that one maintain balance amongst the yang and yin as well as the flow of vital energy throughout the body.
