When you know you have enough money to lose and still keep your shirt on, you will be a more confident online poker player. Confidence in playing online poker is the big secret of the big winners!

Winning against players with a more advanced online poker playing skills is a long shot indeed. It's better to start with a fair playing field by making sure that your opponents have at least the same stats as you do. Spotting bad players in the game is crucial since playing against them would ensure you have the upper hand most of the time. Look at the statistics on each player you go against with. Doing this simple tip would help you see which players to avoid and whom to go play online poker with.

3. If your head is not in the right place, stay off the table. Everyone has off days, especially if they celebrated too much the night before. When you are not in top form, it only makes sense to save your money. Stress from everyday life can cause you to make rash decision at the table, so if you had a rough day at work or things aren't going well at home, take a break rather than making mistakes that cost you your bankroll.

4. Gather as much information as you can about how the game is going at the table, who is weak and who is aggressive. This helps you form your strategy for that particular game. Fore warned is fore armed.

5. Good hands are worth waiting for. Playing a bad hand is just going to cost you money. Folding is an important poker tool and it should be used liberally.

6. If you have to bluff, do it sparingly. Bluffing can be a winning move if you do it properly at the perfect timing. Experienced players can catch you bluffing too often. Faking it would make you the underdog at the table most of the times. A bluff perfectly timed can be a winning tactic but should always be used carefully.
